The inclusive collective post-animale was composed by the sheltered workshop La “S” Grand Atelier in Vielsalm, Belgium.
The collective is composed of artists from all backgrounds with the main focus to experiment around the performativity of costumes.
The costumes are mainly produced by the local artists from la S, and completed by works from external textile designers and members of the collective.
Many questions were prior to this experimental project: How can we include all the artists with their respective fragilities? Can we mix disciplines and different aesthetics into a coherent body of work? How can we activate a costume without making it look like a runway performance or a culturally appropriated ritual? What is dance? What is poetry? How do we interact with public space or the space we are performing in?
We had different research residencies as a group and presented the work at Casino Luxemburg and at the Vooruit in Gent. The collective is still active with changing members.
