The Capsule

Collective Performance, Workshops, Experimental Documentary

The Capsule was an artistic project during which myself and cameraman Kim El Ouardi made a low-fi feature documentary-fiction. The shooting was itinerant and participatory.

Pulling two carts that contained everything we needed to produce electricity, survive and shoot a film, we crossed Luxembourg and its surroundings on foot for almost four months.

The encounters we made along the way have determined the course of our story.
In addition to these chance encounters, throughout the journey we worked with different youth groups, sheltered workshops and political refugees.

Over the whole periode, we were joined by different artists and directors to create an episode/chapter of the film with us.

The main idea was to (re)question capitalist, individualistic lifestyles and extractivist
by making a movie that occurs according
to these same questions. By integrating the ideas and concerns of the participants, the film was written as the journey progressed.

Participating artists/activists : Tania Soubry, Adrien Lehnert, Alicia Shanti, Julie Schroell, Moritz Schönecker, Marius Alsleben, Vanessa Vollmar, Svenja Weber, Natascha Bisbis, the artists of la “S” Grand Atelier, Aurélie d’Incau, Cloé Decroix

Participating structures : Kulturfabrik, Spektrum, Municipaity of Groussbus-Wahl, Liewenshaff, CNDS, La “S” Grand Atelier, L’Orangerie

During the whole trip, we collaboratively wrote 8 backcovers for the newspaper WOXX.
